Companies that send their employees through the Global Six Sigma training program are equipped with knowledgeable employees that are capable of improving processes at all levels, which results in hard or soft money savings. Six Sigma students are equipped with the tools to take on the demanding challenges of solving internal problems within any organization.
There are four different levels of Six Sigma certification. These levels are Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt, and Master Black Belt. Yellow Belts typically receive no formal training. They are taught the basics while working on their first project. Global Six Sigma provides five levels of certification. Students may receive certification at the White Belt, Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt, and Master Black Belt level.
In order to ensure a successful deployment of Six Sigma, we offer a two day onsite Champion program, which is geared toward executives within the organization. This program will provide the leaders of the organization the information they need to have a successful implementation.
In addition, the two day Champion program provides upper level management with guidance for choosing the right employees to participate in the training. In order for Six Sigma to work, upper management must be committed to the process. The Champion program provides these individuals a better understanding of what Six Sigma is, as well as what their employees will be learning.
The program will also address how the Six Sigma process will work within the organization. The organization can receive assistance from one of our Master Black Belts to ensure the implementation is planned out and applied appropriately.
The first level of certification offered by Global Six Sigma is the Green Belt. Green Belts typically spend 50% of their time working on Six Sigma projects. However, this may vary greatly among different organizations. The two week Green Belt program begins with a JumpStart. The JumpStart is the first week of the two week Green Belt training. The JumpStart may also be taken without Green Belt certification.
The JumpStart provides a basic overview of Six Sigma and the initial tools required to begin isolating appropriate projects. Because our training is hands on and focused on the process of completing projects, students are required to complete a live project for certification. A nonprofit project will be acceptable, if the student is unable to work on a project through their employer.
The next level in Six Sigma is called the Black Belt. The Green Belt is a prerequisite for the two week Black Belt certification. Black Belts typically spend 75% of their time working on Six Sigma projects; again this will vary within each organization.
Global Six Sigma was the first organization to offer a four week Black Belt course, which allows students to start with no prior experience and finish with a Black Belt certification. The four week Black Belt course begins with two weeks of Green Belt training and then continues into the Black Belt. The Black Belt involves deeper statistical learning about the Six Sigma methodology. Black Belt certified individuals act as mentors to Green Belts, providing guidance as they complete projects.
The highest level of Six Sigma certification is called the Master Black Belt. Master Black Belts devote 100% of their time to Six Sigma projects. They are often leaders of an organization or consultants that have been hired to implement Six Sigma.
Global Six Sigma is one of a few organizations to offer Master Black Belt training, which does not require sponsorship. In order to receive this level of certification, students must be able to prove their knowledge of Six Sigma by meeting certain prerequisites. The Master Black Belt program consists of two weeks of rigorous training involving the review of Six Sigma methodologies, as well as high level tools needed for completing complicated projects.
